The project holds all of the information about your Live Set (basically what Ableton calls your track). Any effects you use, where they are used, and how they are used, are also project-specific. Any software instruments you use will also be noted in the project file (although you dont need to know about these for now). You can play this if you like and see how it sounds, but it isnt really important at the moment. Just save the newly-created Live Set down with a name of your choosing by selecting File Save Live Set As. Thats fine, you can pick these skills up later when youre more familiar with the app. The button with three horizontal bars toggles arrangement view. These bars will appear gray until you activate Arrangement View. This is the area in which you can drop some samples and then move them around the workspace, hence Arrangement Mode. Each channel provides the overall track with a different sound, so you might have one dedicated to the bassline, one for drum patterns, one for vocals, and so on. Right-click in the blank space below the two remaining colored boxes. Click insert audio track and youll notice a third track pops up. They have been indicated on the image above for quick identification. Left-clicking in the box and holding down the mouse button allows you to zoom in and out with updown gestures and you move the zoomed view left and right with corresponding mouse movements. This counts the bars in your music and indicates where you need to place your samples. The bars are initially displayed in groups of four (which is why the top of the track display reads 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, etc.).
