What better way of commenting on the problem than to make a film yes a horror film, about the poor quality of Myanmar cinema In an attempt to make local films great again a group of young directors discover an old disused cinema, which they use to produce and exhibit their own movies.They sometimes give us the excuse to cry or laugh out loud, and to admire a few sexy actors and actresses along the way.
But recently, Myanmar directors and producers have started to lift their game. Christina Kyis Deception (2018) and Mudras Calling (2018) both garnered critical attention around the world, inspiring better quality lower budget movies this year. ![]() Perhaps the only thing scarier than a damsel-in-horror-distress is a damsel who is also a mother brilliantly played by Wut Hmone Shwe Yi. Another equally intriguing element is that the main male character (played by Duang) is a cross-dressing male photographer, who gets possessed when putting on womens clothing. It is directed by Thai Director Chartchai Ketnust, and also stars local actor Naing Naing and Daung. It is produced by Seven Sense and directed by Win Lwin Htet and Aww Ratha, with the actors Ye Deight, Daung, Shwe Htoo and Wut Hmone Shwe Yi. The story centers on a young couple, with the attractive young lead attracted by another man. A story for modern day Myanmar perhaps, as it explores the taboo issue of female infidelity. The movie is full of scenes from Nat festivals, as the story follows the life of a Spirit Medium. The Nat Gadaw is the central character who was abandoned by his parents as a baby, but has since commanded great respect among the Nat devotees. The movie depicts Myanmar traditional beliefs, staring the actor Nay Toe as the spirit medium. It was screened in this August, directed by Nay Paing with the script written by Moe Ni Lwin. When the visit the girls house they spooked by a strange feeling. Little do they realise the girls family are traumatised by the sudden death of their young son, who wants to trap the visitors inside whats now a haunted house. It was screened in August, and directed by Htoo Paing Zaw Oo. The plot involves both traditional and street dance styles, set to a fabulous soundtrack, and followers the fortunes of a young dancer trying to seek the approval of an overbearing father. Not only does the film include a cast of talent actors dancing their way throughout, but it also depicts the night life, shopping centers and city streets of Yangon beautifully on the big screen. It stars academy award-winning actors Yan Aung and Zin Wine, and is directed by Myo Myint Swe. New 2019 Myanmar Story Cartoons Movie Reviewers RavedMovie reviewers raved about the suspense of the film, but everyone else was left wondering where action would finish. The story didnt really end, so if you want to watch this horror-suspense flick then you might want to wait for the sequels Insidious and The Conjuring coming out soon. But this movie has slightly more style than hackneyed stereotypes, and follows the lives of a group of Myanmar gamblers trying to escape the Thai mafia on their way back home. Something of a Thai-Myanmar co-production, which is a positive industry development in itself, the film stars Thai actors like Kaew Korravee alongside Myanmar stars Pyay Ti Oo, Khin Hlaing and Ei Chaw Po.
